Dear
Babe:
OK, you're a babe. What are the best pick up lines? I've tried a million
of them and sometimes a line works like a dream, other times I get
a drink thrown in my face. How do you know beforehand if it's going
to work?
--Dry Face, Please
Dear Dry Face:
It's not so much the line as the delivery. Women prefer genuineness
over a line that's been used more times than Liz Taylor's wedding
dress. I have always preferred the direct and honest approach. Of
course, "Nice tits" is direct and honest, though not likely to score
you many points. There are men, however, who swear by lines like "Why
don't you just leave with me now, so we can get a head start on all
the fun we're going to have?" You may end up with a gallon of Absolute
Citrons in your lap or a cluster of handprints on your cheek, but
if it's only sex you're after, at least you don't waste your entire
evening and entertainment budget on somebody who's only interested
in a deep, meaningful romance.
But let's assume you want to initiate a get-acquainted type conversation
which will hopefully lead to bigger and better things. The most important
thing is engaging the women rather than talking at them; seeing them
as individuals versus viewing them as prizes to be won. NEVER look
around at the other action. Make the woman you're talking to feel
as though she's the only woman in the world. Rather than using rehearsed
lines, which any woman with half a brain can spot a mile away, try
leading with an honest compliment and a gentlemanly introduction.
For example, "You have the most wonderful laugh! I'd make a total
fool of myself just to hear you laugh again! May I try? My name is…."
Then, wow her with your wit. Or "I've been watching you and even from
a distance, I can see from your manner, you're a real lady. I would
love it if you'd allow me to buy you a drink. My name is…" Then, treat
her like a lady. (Not much point in complimenting her refined qualities,
then treating her like a cheap slut.) Avoid compliments to her sexual
attributes, as attractive as they may be. Lines such as "God, you
have such incredible cleavage! I could lose myself for weeks in there"
will likely just get you another drink in your face.
Ultimately, it's all about sincerity. Straight-from-the-heart sincerity.
If you can fake that, you've got it made.
